::key-takeaways
- Search Console reports Google’s indexing and search performance data; data can take [a few days to appear](https://gscdump.com/learn-google-search-console/limits/data-delay) for a newly added property, not a fixed 48 hours.
- Dedicated generative AI reports show impressions; these are separate from click and citation-count metrics
- Assess each Core Web Vital’s p75 separately for mobile and desktop. CrUX and Search Console use a rolling 28-day window; own RUM windows can differ
- Use tools whose measurements match the question; sampled results do not establish complete coverage

Once your Nuxt site is live, you need data: traffic numbers alone don't tell you what's working. Track keyword rankings, AI Overview citations, and Real User Monitoring (RUM) for Core Web Vitals.

## Start with Free Tools

### [Google Search Console](https://nuxtseo.com/learn-seo/nuxt/launch-and-listen/search-console)

[Search Console](https://search.google.com/search-console) reports Google’s stored and tested site information. Data can take a few days to appear for a newly added property.

Track these metrics:

- **Impressions** - both traditional web and AI Mode appearances
- **Clicks** - actual traffic from Google
- **Generative AI performance** - AI Overview and AI Mode impressions, tracked in a dedicated report Google shipped in June 2026 (see below)
- **Page indexing states** - reported indexing and exclusion reasons

GSC's UI export [truncates to 1,000 representative rows](https://gscdump.com/learn-google-search-console/limits/export-row-limits), hiding the long tail. The API allows more per request with pagination.

[Bulk Data Export to BigQuery](https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/12918484) provides ongoing daily data without report/API top-row limits. [Set it up](https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/12917675) before the period you want to collect; it does not backfill earlier history. Anonymized query text remains unavailable, while table aggregates can include rows with an empty query string. [gscdump](https://gscdump.com) exports available API data. API top-row limits still apply; an export is not every historical query.

### GA4 for Organic Traffic

Google Analytics 4 tracks behavior and traffic sources. Configure its [single-page application measurement](https://developers.google.com/analytics/devguides/collection/ga4/single-page-applications), then verify one pageview per route transition. Do not assume an installed script proves accurate route tracking.

Add the GA4 script through `app.head` in `nuxt.config.ts`, or install [`nuxt-gtag`](https://nuxt.com/modules/gtag), the maintained module for GA4 in Nuxt. To see organic traffic, go to **Reports > Acquisition > Traffic acquisition**, then filter by `Organic Search`. Link GA4 to Search Console in **Admin > Product links** to see keyword data alongside user behavior. Expect the two to disagree: GSC counts clicks and GA4 counts sessions, so [the counts use different definitions and may differ](https://gscdump.com/learn-google-search-console/limits/gsc-vs-ga4).

## Real User Monitoring (RUM)

Lab data describes one configured test environment, whether local or hosted. RUM tells you how it performs for real users.

### Why RUM Matters

Evaluate each field metric’s p75 separately for mobile and desktop. CrUX uses a rolling 28-day window; your own RUM provider may use a different window. Good scores do not guarantee rankings.

### RUM Tools for Nuxt

- **[Vercel Speed Insights](https://vercel.com/docs/speed-insights)**: check the current plan limits and pricing before enabling collection
- **[Datadog RUM](https://www.datadoghq.com/product/real-user-monitoring/)**: enterprise-grade monitoring

Monitor these metrics weekly:

- p75 LCP (target: ≤ 2.5s)
- p75 INP (target: ≤ 200ms)
- p75 CLS (target: ≤ 0.1)

Measure your own traffic before choosing which metric to improve.

## AI Citation Monitoring

Choose monitoring according to your acquisition and reader goals. Use the [Generative AI performance report](https://developers.google.com/search/blog/2026/06/gen-ai-performance-reports) in Search Console for AI Overview and AI Mode impressions by page, country, and device. Google's announcement says the report became globally available on August 31, 2026. Check its documented fields before comparing it with other reports.

If you use a citation tracker, check which providers, prompts, dates, and regions it samples. A sampled citation count is not complete coverage of an AI service.

## Privacy-Focused Alternatives

[Plausible](https://plausible.io/) is an analytics option. Check its current integration instructions and your applicable consent requirements before deploying it. A product label does not establish whether your site needs a consent banner.

## Paid SEO Suites

Upgrade when you need competitor data and backlink analysis.

- **Ahrefs**: compare its current backlink and keyword data with your needs
- **SEMrush**: check the current rank-tracking and local-search features for your plan
- **Screaming Frog**: crawls your site to find technical issues like redirect chains or missing meta tags
- **[Nuxt SEO Pro](https://nuxtseo.com/pro)**: inspect the current site workflow and available data before choosing it for your review

## What to Track Weekly

Monitor these metrics every Monday:

**From Search Console:**

- Generative AI impressions, separate from citation counts
- Top queries (what terms trigger your pages?)
- Indexing status (any new "Crawled - not indexed"?)

**From RUM Tools:**

- p75 INP (any responsiveness regressions?)
- LCP by country, compared with device, network, and response measurements before diagnosing a CDN

**From Analytics:**

- Organic session duration or engagement trends; neither establishes that people read the content
- Bounce rate on top pages

## Setting Up Alerts

- **Search Console Alerts**: Google emails you for manual actions or critical errors
- **Uptime Monitoring**: configure your chosen provider’s interval, notification channels, and plan limits, then test a failed check
- **Sentry**: track runtime errors and hydration mismatches in production

## Checklist

::checklist{#nuxt-seo-monitoring}
- Search Console verified, sitemap submitted, and the Generative AI performance report checked
- GA4 or Plausible tracking organic sessions correctly across route changes
- A RUM tool (Vercel Speed Insights, Datadog) reporting p75 LCP, INP, and CLS weekly
- Weekly review of AI Overview impressions, top queries, and indexing errors
- Uptime and error alerts wired up (Checkly, [Sentry](https://sentry.io))
