> Index of every page on this site: [llms.txt](https://nuxtseo.com/llms.txt)

::key-takeaways
- Nuxt enables SSR by default. Verify that the deployed response includes the intended content and metadata
- Submit your sitemap in Search Console, then request indexing for your homepage and other critical pages
- Google uses Core Web Vitals alongside other ranking signals; good INP is at or below 200ms

Deployed your Nuxt site to production? You have three goals: get Google to crawl it, get Google to index it, and get LLMs to cite it. If you haven't launched yet, start with the [Pre-Launch SEO Warmup](https://nuxtseo.com/learn-seo/pre-launch-warmup) to build authority before day one. For a quick reference of every step, see the [SEO Checklist](https://nuxtseo.com/learn-seo/checklist).

## SSR by Default

Nuxt enables SSR by default. Awaited data and head setup can include content and metadata in the initial response. Google also renders JavaScript and queues successful responses for rendering; SSR does not guarantee faster indexing.

Choose rendering per route. SSR and prerendering expose initial content. CSR can suit authenticated application screens. See the [rendering guide](https://nuxtseo.com/learn-seo/nuxt/routes-and-rendering/rendering) before combining these options.

## Canonical URL Configuration

If several hosts serve equivalent content, choose a preferred public origin. Google can consolidate equivalents automatically; consistent canonical signals express your preference.

Example: `www.example.com` and `example.com` both serve your app, but only `example.com` should appear in Google.

Use a server-side permanent redirect for a moved host, or declare a canonical preference when both URLs must remain accessible. Follow the tested recipes in the canonical and [redirect guides](https://nuxtseo.com/learn-seo/nuxt/controlling-crawlers/redirects). SEO Utils offers an opt-in redirectToCanonicalSiteUrl setting; inspect its version-specific configuration and production output before enabling it.

See the [canonical URLs guide](https://nuxtseo.com/learn-seo/nuxt/controlling-crawlers/canonical-urls) for implementation details.

## Set Up Google Search Console

You need [Google Search Console](https://nuxtseo.com/learn-seo/nuxt/launch-and-listen/search-console) to monitor indexing and AI visibility. Ideally, set this up weeks before launch as part of your [pre-launch warmup](https://nuxtseo.com/learn-seo/pre-launch-warmup#set-up-search-console-before-launch). If you haven't yet:

1. Visit [search.google.com/search-console](https://search.google.com/search-console)
2. Add your property (domain property recommended)
3. Verify ownership via DNS, which catches all subdomains
4. Submit your [sitemap](https://nuxtseo.com/learn-seo/nuxt/controlling-crawlers/sitemaps) at **Indexing > Sitemaps**

Google’s [generative AI reports](https://developers.google.com/search/blog/2026/06/gen-ai-performance-reports) show impressions in separate Search and Discover views. They became globally available on August 31, 2026. They do not provide click or CTR data.

## Request Indexing

After sitemap submission, request indexing for important pages.

**Manual method:**

1. Open [URL Inspection](https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/9012289) in Search Console
2. Enter your URL
3. Click **Request Indexing**

[Requesting recrawling](https://developers.google.com/search/docs/crawling-indexing/ask-google-to-recrawl) does not guarantee indexing or immediate crawling. Quotas apply; repeated requests do not accelerate the same URL.

[IndexNow](https://nuxtseo.com/learn-seo/nuxt/launch-and-listen/indexnow) notifies participating engines of URL changes. A successful submission does not guarantee indexing or AI citations. Google’s Indexing API is restricted to supported JobPosting and livestream BroadcastEvent-in-VideoObject pages; it is not a general bulk-indexing route.

## Core Web Vitals Check

Google uses [Core Web Vitals](https://developers.google.com/search/docs/appearance/core-web-vitals) alongside other ranking signals. INP measures responsiveness; good field INP is at or below 200ms.

| Metric | Good | Poor |
| ------------------------------- | ------ | ------ |
| LCP (Largest Contentful Paint) | ≤2.5s | >4s |
| INP (Interaction to Next Paint) | ≤200ms | >500ms |
| CLS (Cumulative Layout Shift) | ≤0.1 | >0.25 |

The bar is beatable but not universal: per the [2025 Web Almanac](https://almanac.httparchive.org/en/2025/performance), 48% of measured mobile origins passed all three metrics in the July 2025 dataset, and LCP is the one that fails most often. Use PageSpeed Insights’ available CrUX field data, Search Console, or RUM for field results. Assess each metric at the 75th percentile of real visits. Lighthouse diagnoses lab loading problems; its normal load audit does not prove field INP or a real-user pass. Don't chase perfect scores; fix red flags and move on.

See [Core Web Vitals for Nuxt](https://nuxtseo.com/learn-seo/nuxt/launch-and-listen/core-web-vitals) for optimization techniques.

## Lighthouse SEO & AI Audit

Run Lighthouse on your key pages, focusing on the SEO and Accessibility categories. Also check for AI-readiness:

- Structured data (JSON-LD) correctly implemented
- Clear, semantically meaningful headings (H1-H6)
- [Alt text](https://nuxtseo.com/learn-seo/nuxt/mastering-meta/alt-text) matches each image’s purpose; decorative images use empty alt
- If publishing llms.txt, follow the [current Nuxt guide](https://nuxtseo.com/learn-seo/nuxt/controlling-crawlers/llms-txt); it does not guarantee citations
- [Internal linking](https://nuxtseo.com/learn-seo/nuxt/routes-and-rendering/internal-linking) structure reviewed (no orphan pages)

Use [Unlighthouse](https://unlighthouse.dev/) to audit your entire site in bulk.

## Build Initial Authority

Publish useful content and provide crawlable navigation. Use the [pre-launch guide](https://nuxtseo.com/learn-seo/pre-launch-warmup) for preparation ideas and [backlink guide](https://nuxtseo.com/learn-seo/backlinks) for relevant relationships. A warmup period does not guarantee trust, indexing, or citations.

## Common Nuxt-Specific Issues

For a complete troubleshooting workflow, see the [debugging guide](https://nuxtseo.com/learn-seo/nuxt/launch-and-listen/debugging).

### Meta tags not updating on navigation

- Use reactive values in `useSeoMeta()`{lang="ts"} or `useHead()`{lang="ts"}
- Check direct response metadata, then inspect the current document head after client navigation
- Check the [Mastering Meta](https://nuxtseo.com/learn-seo/nuxt/mastering-meta) guides

### Slow Interaction to Next Paint (INP)

- Avoid long-running tasks on the main thread
- Split long tasks; feature-detect scheduler APIs before using them
- Check [Core Web Vitals](https://nuxtseo.com/learn-seo/nuxt/launch-and-listen/core-web-vitals) for INP fixes

### Pages "Crawled - currently not indexed"

- Content may be too thin or lack unique value
- This status describes Googlebot's own crawl-then-decide process; it's separate from whether GPTBot, ClaudeBot, or other AI crawlers have visited, since those crawl independently and don't feed Google's index
- See [Debugging Indexing Issues](https://nuxtseo.com/learn-seo/nuxt/launch-and-listen/indexing-issues)

## After Launch

1. Check [Search Console](https://nuxtseo.com/learn-seo/nuxt/launch-and-listen/search-console) weekly for errors
2. Watch generative AI impression trends separately from clicks and citation counts
3. Monitor [Core Web Vitals](https://nuxtseo.com/learn-seo/nuxt/launch-and-listen/core-web-vitals) in field data (RUM)
4. Track organic traffic with [SEO monitoring tools](https://nuxtseo.com/learn-seo/nuxt/launch-and-listen/seo-monitoring)
5. Keep publishing content and building authority

## Automate with Nuxt SEO

For automatic [sitemap](https://nuxtseo.com/learn-seo/nuxt/controlling-crawlers/sitemaps) generation, [robots.txt](https://nuxtseo.com/learn-seo/nuxt/controlling-crawlers/robots-txt), OG images, and [Schema.org](http://Schema.org):
